DAY TRIP TO KALAUPAPA, MOLOKAI BY PLANE:  KALAUPAPA is one of the most isolated and beautiful communities in the world. This is where Father Damien once ministered and cared for those stricken with leprosy. Kalaupapa is now designated a National historical Park. Access is only by air or mule train down a 1,600-foot switchback trail. Arriving by air is the fastest and easiest way to get to Kalauapapa from Maui. From the Kalaupapa airport you can take a tour of Kalaupapa.
Paragon Air
offers flights from Kahului, Kapalua, and Hana to Kalaupapa for $210 per person including lunch.. They also offer great package tours to Kalaupapa which include airfare from Kahului, Kapalua, or Hana and lunch. HANG GLIDE- Soar like a bird using a motored hang glider. Enjoy unobstructed views of waterfalls, ocean coastline, and tropical rainforest. An experienced hang glider pilot actually flies the glider and you get to be their co-pilot. After a short ground instruction you take off on a powered hang glider. Your interactive flight lesson is on a Airborne Edge Trike with is very much like a traditional hang glider but is powered by a reliable aircraft engine. Your instructional flight includes a two way intercom system (headsets) enabling easy communication between you and instructor. Helmets and flight suits are provided. During your flight you will learn the basics of weight-shift control, aerodynamics and aviation safety as well as a bit about weather and its affects on aviation. A wing mounted camera is aboard to record your experience. $115.00 for 30 minute lesson, $190.00 for 60 minute lesson. Photos of your experience $25. Flights leave from the Hana airport.
