There are many ways to enjoy Molokai's unique ecosystem and rich history by land. There are free maps available at the Molokai airport with popular, historical sites, and hot spots to visit clearly marked. There are only a few main roads, it is very easy to get around. The main roads are paved, but there are a few dirt and coral gravel paved side roads that are only safely passable when the weather is dry. Molokai doesn't get a lot of rain so that is most of the time. If it has recently rained do not attempt to drive off road or you will probably end up stuck.
GUIDED HUNTING ADVENTURES are available year round to help rid Hawaii of feral pigs, goats, and rams which are destroying Hawaii's fragile ecosystems. Professionally guided hunts on private land throughout the State of Hawaii are available through Hawaii Sportsmen's Adventures. For more information call (877)737-3755. Please note a hunting license is required and are about $100 per person. Licenses are available through any Division of Forestry and Wildlife Office. In order to purchase a Hawaii hunting license, hunters must posses either a Hawaii Hunter Education Wallet Card or a Letter of Exemption. A Letter of Exemption is issued free to those hunters who are able to show proof of successfully completing a hunter education course that is recognized by the National Hunter Education Association, or, proof of having been issued a Hawaii hunting License prior to July 1, 1990. For more information regarding Hawaii hunting licenses contact the Hawaii Division of Forestry and Wildlife Office at 808 587-0166.
